Family Support & Couples Therapy

Collaborative work between Dr Achilleas Dalamagkas and James Ingram

Our practice offers a unique collaborative approach that combines the specialist knowledge of child and educational psychology with integrative psychotherapeutic counselling. This partnership creates a comprehensive understanding of child development, neurodevelopmental differences, and how these dynamics impact entire family systems, providing families with unparalleled support during challenging times.

Comprehensive Family Support

We work with families experiencing a wide range of challenges, including those affected by previous or current traumas, families managing long-term or short-term health conditions such as cancer, and those seeking to understand and support neurodiversity within their family system. Our expertise extends to supporting families with Autism and ADHD across all ages, from early years through to adulthood, offering support and advice post diagnosis.

When family relationships experience ruptures or communication breaks down, our collaborative approach helps families rebuild connections and develop healthier patterns of interaction. We also provide essential support during times of loss, offering both pre-bereavement preparation and post-bereavement healing, recognising that grief affects entire family systems, not just individuals.

Couples Therapy

Our couples counselling welcomes all relationship types, including same-sex partnerships, with Achilleas bringing particular expertise in same-sex adoptive families through his doctoral research. Whether couples are facing communication difficulties, navigating major life transitions, dealing with intimacy challenges, or requiring pre and post-separation support, our integrated approach addresses both individual and relational needs.

Flexible, Tailored Interventions

Our work combines person-centred therapeutic principles with solution-oriented brief approaches, problem-solving psychological consultations, and systemic family-informed interventions. Sessions can involve joint work with both professionals when beneficial, or individual practitioner-led sessions depending on circumstances and family needs. We adapt our approach to each family's unique situation, offering flexible scheduling and both in-person and online options to accommodate busy family lives.

Like all our services, family and couples work begins with a complimentary 30-minute telephone consultation where we explore what's brought your family to seek support and discuss how our collaborative approach might best serve your needs. This relaxed conversation allows us to understand your family's unique circumstances and determine the most appropriate way forward, without any pressure or obligation.

The foundation of our work remains fundamentally therapeutic, designed to enhance family wellbeing through our combined expertise in psychological development and therapeutic practice.
